Who cares

Newspaper 2011–2015 is a collection of newspapers from the post-election (pre-set-up election) period in Iran, a time of mistrust in society and media.

In response to this atmosphere of doubt and uncertainty, the artist decided to transform these newspapers by altering their photographs with her own imagination and fantasy, covering them with her own paintings that are not bound to any specific time or place.

The paintings act as a parallel fantasy world, offering an alternative perspective on reality that questions the honesty of the articles and photos originally printed in the newspapers.

Using her paintings to partially or completely cover the original photographs, the artist creates a sense of ambiguity around the narrated events, provoking viewers to question their own assumptions about truth and reality. By intervening in the images and texts of the newspapers, the artist seeks to overset the concept of objective journalism and instead invites the viewer to consider the role of subjectivity and perspective in shaping our understanding of the world.

Overall, “Newspaper 2011–2015” is a thought-provoking exploration of the power of art to challenge and transform our perceptions of truth and reality.
